I’m fan of Blogshares Game, “BlogShares is a fantasy stock market where weblogs are the companies. Players invest fictional dollars on shares in blogs. Blogs are valued by their incomeing links and add value to other blogs by linking to them. ..”, as the site exaplains.
In its Dairy industry, Artefact: Samuel Pepys [here], which is one of Artefacts and has some functions can affect blogs as tools in the Blogshares game.
Where I heard for the first of Samuel Pepys. He was one of the most famous darist. According to the site Pepys’ Diary, where you can read this famous 17th century diarist and it introduced Samuel Pepys and other topics at that time in London, England.
One of my favorite Japanese blogger mentioned about Samuel Pepys, and before that, he wrote about Monzaemon Asahi, a Japanese diarist in the Genroku period (1688-1703). The Genroku era was when urban culture was flourished in the cities and lifestyle of ordinary pepole get changes meal, clothing, diffusion of tatami floor mat in common home. There are so many topics and famous people such as Monzaemon Chikamatsu (1653-1724, Bunraku playwright), geisha, ukiyoe, etc. in the Genroku Era, which are still valid words in nowadays.
Pepys ends his diary in 1669, and in summer of 1691 Asahi of 18 years old started to write his dairy for 8,863days : 26 years and 8 months.
Asahi’s diary was not about romance or love but a mirror of the society at that time, and the diary is called as “Diary of a caged parrot”. He wrote about social conditions, cost of living, weather, solar eclipse, review of drama play, gambling, criticism on Edo government, gossips which could put his life in danger.
I’ve tried to find a page someone wrote about this diary in English, but not found.
